The Centre for Information Techonology in Education (CITE) is a research centre.

CITE's vision is to become an internationally recogised Centre of Excellence in IT in education.

CITE's mission is to stimulate and undertake research and development projects and to disseminate the research products and findings to the education community both locally and internationally; provide quality teachers/ principal in service education programs for the upgrading and retraining of school teachers/ principals so that they will be capable of integrating IT in their teaching practices & strategic school planning; establish links and partnerships locally and internationally to further strengthen and extend this to enhance CITE's profile and image internationally.

CITE has a commitment to provide consultancy services to the community on the use of IT in education and to establish close connections with the education, technology and business sectors of the community.

Consultancy projects I've been involved in include :

  • Joint course co-ordinator, APEC Cyber Education Cooperation Project (ACEC) with N. Law running workshops and providing consultancy for teachers, principals, and Ministry of Education officials, including one week workshops in Thailand in 2002 and the Philippines in 2003.   • Presenter and joint course co-ordinator for three Quality Pharmaceutical Supply Training Programs for Indonesia. Presented sessions on adult learning and train- the- trainer and the use of distance education and flexible learning for adults. AusAID funded. 1995, 1996 and 1997.

  • Rural Perioperative Nurse Program: course development, instructional design and evaluation, especially for distance education, 1995/96.
  • Telecom & Curtin University Certificate in Business Knowledge: flexible learning, course development, instructional design, evaluation & learning skills development, 1994/5.
  • Academic co-ordinator and presenter for a number of international specialised programs for the Philippines, Afghanistan, Thailand and Indonesia. Main focus of the work presented is in train-the-trainer, adult learning, distance and flexible learning. 1994-1997.
     
  • Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Bangkok, Thailand. Developing and delivering distance education and open learning, 1995 and 1996.
     
  • I have also worked in China providing consultancy advise on the design and use of educational technology for a) Wuhan Agricultural College, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, 1983 and b) Guangzhou Foreign Languages Institute in 1983.
